A Little About Me

nursing.jpg

I graduated with my Diploma of Nursing in 1992 in Moncton, N.B. There was not much work for nurses at this time so after some time of working casual I decided to go work in Presque Isle Maine for a year. After getting married I decided I should return to Moncton where I got on casual at both the Moncton Hospital and The George Dumont in the ICU. Once I got settled in the operating room I decided that I wanted to get my degree which I started in 1996. This took me ten years to complete through distance at the University of New Brunswick. Since our children have moved on with their post secondary studies and have chosen their own career paths I have decided to take my Masters of Health Studies.

I currently am the Clinical Leader for the Perioperative Department at Dartmouth General. This consists of the operating room, post anesthetic unit as well as day surgery. My role included that the nursing staff operate within the collective agreement as well as adhere to the standards as required by the College of Registered Nurses. In this role I report to the manager of the Perioperative portfolio at Dartmouth General. This      E portfolio has been created for my Masters of Health Studies Program.
