Professional Associations
A registered nurse working in the province of Nova Scotia is required to adhere to the regulations set out by the College of Registered Nurses. Registered Nurses are represented by one of the two unions in the province depending on where they work. I am represented by the Nova Scotia Nurses Union. Currently the province is undergoing a change to make it one union for all. As an operating room nurse, the ORNAC standards are guidelines that are followed when working in the OR. Being a member of ORNAC and ORNANS is voluntary as well as obtaining the CNA certification in the specialty.
